ABOUT THE COMPETITION

The Hunter Centre is excited to partner once again with Innovate Calgary and PROPEL Energy Tech Forum to host the 4th annual Energy New Venture Competition on Tuesday February 28, 2017 in Calgary (Alberta).

The Energy New Venture Competition (ENV) is a first-of-its-kind competition focused on would-be energy sector entrepreneurs. Open to all seed-stage companies, budding entrepreneurs, researchers and students, the competition is a platform for advancing emerging energy technology companies and concepts to the next level.

Teams choose to compete in one of the following categories:

  • Concept stream is where individuals or teams can pitch their idea or concept for an energy technology start-up and turn their idea into reality.

  • Venture stream is where teams or individuals can pitch their energy technology start-up company and take it to the next level.

PRIZES

Teams will be competing for more than $100,000 in cash and in-kind prizes.
Leading up to the competition, teams will have the opportunity to work with investment experts and pitch coaches at Innovate Calgary as part of the free and mandatory pitch workshops.

JUDGING

Judges evaluate the teams as real-world energy sector entrepreneurs soliciting start up funds from early stage investors. Outside of our expert-judging panel, we assemble an audience of other investors and innovators who provide an incredibly rich and interactive networking environment for our go-forward teams from both potential investment and collaboration perspectives.

PARTNER EVENT

ENV takes place the day prior to the opening of the PROPEL Energy Forum, Calgary’s largest platform for sharing ideas about the global energy sector. For more information about PROPEL, visit: http://www.propelenergytech.com
